The SteelPhonic is a classic single cutaway design with a Hollow steel body and a wood neck that is both beautiful to look at and to play. Designed to capture the ringing, metallic tones of classic resonator guitars, while having the feel and playability of an electric, the SteelPhonic's sound is built around a metal "candy box" attached to a transducer pickup. This unique flavor can be blended with the sound of the guitars' two magnetic pickups, creating an array of pleasing sounds no other guitar can produce. A true stereo instrument.

The SteelPhonic features our exclusive hollow steel body and custom metal appointments, like the recessed steel head cap that is beautiful to look at and functional, by adding mass to the headstock it increases sustain. The steel body while also being the perfect medium to display the beautiful Trussart custom finishes and engravings also has tonal advantages. The Trussart SteelPhonic tone is a uniquely classic, thick and resonant tone combined with an edge that cuts through. The construction of these instruments is only half of the story, the other half is the finish, every instrument comes with a history and a slight element of neglect, of decay, so it has a personality of it’s own.

James Trussart is famous for the intricate patinas and distressed finishes he has developed over years of research; each finish is unique to that instrument making it easily identifiable by its owner. Rusty finishes feature swirling textured patterns of rust and “Rust O Matic” finishes named by Billy Gibbons, which are created using a proprietary technique that uses real alligator skins making a gator skin pattern in the rust. Shiny and Brushed nickel as well as Shiny gold finishes are also available if your taste run towards the spectacular.
