Steelcaster ®

Equally at home being played on stage or on display as a piece of art, you will know you have something special the moment you lay your hands on this instrument, every Trussart is loaded with unique custom details.  The Deluxe Steelcaster has the look and feel of a vintage instrument with while also featuring our exclusive hollow steel body and custom metal appointments.  The steel while also being the perfect medium to display the beautiful Trussart custom finishes also has tonal advantages.  The Trussart Steelcaster tone is a uniquely annunciated sound that, combined with the resonant qualities of the hollow steel body can range from sweet, crystal clear tones to aggressive screaming lead tones.  The construction of these instruments is only half of the story, the other half is the finish, every instrument comes with a history and a slight element of neglect, of decay, so it has a personality of it’s own.

This Trussart has found it’s way into the hands of many guitarists including Billy Gibbons, Robert Cray, Tom Morello (Rage against the Machine, Audioslave), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Pearl Jam, Marc Ribot, Metallica and Joe Perry, to name only a few.

OPTIONS

Colors & Finishes

James Trussart is famous for the intricate patinas and distressed finishes he has developed over years of research; each finish is unique to that instrument making it easily identifiable by its owner.
Rusty finishes feature swirling textured patterns of rust and “Rust O Matic” finishes named by Billy Gibbons, which are created using a proprietary technique that uses real alligator skins making a gator skin pattern in the rust.
Shiny and Brushed nickel as well as Shiny gold finishes are also available if your taste run towards the spectacular.

Perforations

Perforated metal front and back faces are available on these instruments.
Perforation lightens the weight of the instrument by 0.5 pound per perforated face, the perforation also increases the feedback resistance of the instrument while non perforated instruments have more resonance that some musicians prefer. Non perforated instruments have resonant qualities similar to hollow body guitars that many musicians appreciate, if you enjoy the resonance of hollow body guitars a non perforated Trussart is the instrument for you.
The Steelcaster has four perforations options, no perforation, Perforated back, perforated Front that can be combined.
Non perforated Steelcasters average 8.1 pounds, instruments with one face perforated average 7.6 pounds and all perforated about 7.1 pounds.
